NSW Local Government Elections 2016

NSW Local government elections TO be held on 10 September 2016

The 2016 local government election will be held on Saturday, 10th September for all councils in NSW not undergoing an amalgamation. Councils undergoing amalgamations will have elections in 2017. Council elections are held every four years

 

Nominations for the local government election open on 1st August 2016, however candidates and groups are required to register with the NSW Electoral Commission prior to nominations opening, in order to accept political donations and make payments for electoral expenditure.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to attend Council meetings to familiarise themselves with Council processes and they should also log onto the NSW Electoral Commission website to view candidate briefings prior to the election (www.votensw.info)

 

Walgett Shire Council Ordinary meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month commencing at 10am. Residents should check the website (www.walgett.nsw.gov.au) for meeting venues.
