Local Approvals PolicyThe Walgett Shire Council Local Approvals Policy specifies criteria that Council must consider when determining whether or not to grant approval for a particular activity under Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993, as well as the circumstances where approval is not required from Council.
'Approval' means approval of an activity that is listed in the table accompanying Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993. This should not be confused with a requirement for a 'Development Consent' issued in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. While certain activities may be exempt from 'approval', they may still require 'development consent'. If you are uncertain whether you require approval for a proposed development or an activity, then please contact Council's Planning and Regulation staff for more information.
The current policy was adopted by Council on 24 September 2013.
