Local Orders Policy

This policy specifies the criteria that Council will consider when giving an order under the Local Government Act 1993.
Council has the power to issue orders to landowners and occupiers for a wide range of issues associated with environmental health and public safety. The policy is used by Council and its staff to ensure that there is consistency in the criteria that are considered when an order may be issued. At a meeting held on 24 March 2009, Walgett Shire Council resolved to place the Draft Walgett Shire Council Local Orders Policy 2009 on exhibition and invite written submissions from the public regarding the draft policy. The policy is on public exhibition from 25 March 2009 and Council will consider submissions received by the close of business on 25 May 2009.
