Jump on the sheep’s back and join us to celebrate the life of this great entrepenuer of Australian pastoral and industrial history.
The Swan Hill Wolseley Weekend will be four days and nights jam packed full of events and celebrations.
The diverse life of this great man - Frederick York Wolseley - will be honoured with everything from cars and sheep shearing demonstrations, to lively social events.
Historian Ian Itter will release his latest book, Fred Wolseley - A Man of Many Parts, Swan Hill’s Pioneer Settlement Museum will come alive with demonstrations of some of Wolseley’s equipment and the Swan Hill Show will feature Wolseley related events.
Wolseley collectors will be there to display their treasures, including the original patent issued to Robert Savage and Fred Wolseley in 1877 for their first shearing handpiece.
The famous Dangar Gedye and Mallock collection will be on display along with the not so well known Walgett collection, which contains some of Fred’s original handmade pieces through to the final units manufactured by his company.
Plus, John Wolseley, one of Australia’s most outstanding painters will be exhibiting some of his works at the Swan Hill Art Gallery.
