The Australian Opal Centre's new website is online at www.australianopalcentre.com The site provides information about opal, the Australian Opal Centre, the AOC building design team, opal mining and cutting, opalised fossils, Lightning Ridge and its opal field heritage.
On 15 December 2008 Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW and acting Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, opened the Australian Opal Centre's showroom and exhibition in Morilla St, Lightning Ridge.
The Australian Opal Centre in association with Lightning Ridge Tourism Association and Bluey Motel, has issued three guide brochures about natural history sites around Lightning Ridge. The A3 sized fold out brochures guide visitors to nine sites in and around Lightning Ridge, highlighting geological features, birds and plants that can be seen at the sites.
