Walgett Pool Update – 22 October 2025

Council is reviewing pool operations for the weekend and will confirm opening hours on Friday. We are currently operating with reduced lifeguard numbers and are reviewing security arrangements before reopening for larger groups.

Thank you to the community members volunteering as Liaison Officers to help keep the pool safe and positive for everyone.

Yesterday’s Swim Club session was well attended, and it was great to see so many children enjoying the pool in such a positive environment. A big thank you to the organisers, parents, and participants for making it such a success!

Council again extends an open invitation to any community organisation wishing to use the pool outside this week’s operating hours. If your group would like to hold a supervised activity or event, please contact us to arrange a suitable time.

Any bookings will operate under the same arrangement as Swim Club — lifeguards are there to supervise the pool only. The small pool and splash park will not operate during these sessions unless the activity is specifically for younger children or non-swimmers, in which case the small pool can be made available. Entry fees apply as usual.

Schools are also encouraged to visit the pool during school hours this week. Entry is free for students and accompanying teachers or supervisors. We understand this may not be possible for everyone at short notice, but the offer remains open to any school able to take part.

Council will review the situation at the end of the week. The current restrictions apply to this week only. With limited lifeguard availability and ongoing security reviews, our focus remains on reopening safely and sustainably.

In preparation for the pool’s broader reopening, Council has reached out to community groups and individuals who may wish to act as Community Liaison Officers. These volunteers will help create a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment for all pool users.

Council sincerely thanks those who have already offered their support, including Councillor Doreen Peters, Garry and Jenny Trindell, and others who have volunteered their time. This is what makes Walgett such a strong community — people coming together to find solutions and support one another.

Thank you again to everyone who continues to stand by our staff and help make the Walgett Pool a place our community can be proud of.

Walgett Pool - School and Community Group Visits - 21 October 2025

Late last night, Council’s General Manager reached out to the Principals of Walgett Community College High School, Walgett Community College Primary School, and St Joseph’s Primary School, inviting them to bring their students to the Walgett Swimming Pool this week between 11 am and 3 pm.

Entry will be free for all students and accompanying teachers or supervisors.

During these visits, the splash park will not operate; however, the large and small pools will be open for swimming and water activities.

Council encourages each school to come along, enjoy the pool, and make the most of these supervised sessions in a safe and positive environment.

Council has also contacted a range of local community groups, inviting them to get involved by organising coordinated and supervised activities at the pool.

If your community group would like to hold an event or program at the pool, please contact us at admin@walgett.nsw.gov.au

Let’s continue working together to make the Walgett Pool a place for everyone to enjoy—safely and proudly.
