Big Sky Libraries

Big Sky Libraries would like to remind members that they can access a number of resources 24/7 through apps on our website. Our service integrates the Libraries own collections with commercial e-resource providers that are available to adults and children free of charge, which allows Big Sky members to search and borrow over 50,000 printed items and 6000 eBooks, eAudio, movies, research databases, eNews and eMagazines through an online public access catalogue (OPAC).

Public libraries are an important asset in local communities, particularly in rural and isolated areas. They are more than books. Libraries offer an ever changing range of cultural resources for the community and have become social hubs.

Our library services currently have 1600 shire members using our facilities. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or guardian. Our friendly library staff will assist you with your application and issue you with your membership card, the entire process takes only a few minutes and you can enjoy all the benefits the library provides immediately.

Also available are free programs and resources ranging from early childhood, community interest, education, literacy, and recreational programs that cover a multitude of interests and topics suitable for everyone. Contact your local Library for up to date community programs.

The Big Sky Library website www.bsl.nsw.gov.au has a facility called “know what to read next” –with a little bit of information from you and will make recommendations on what books you may enjoy reading next.
You can use our computers to access the internet and Microsoft Office, plus printing and scanning facilities are available for use at both of our locations. Free wifi is available at our branches.

We encourage bulk borrowing from schools, aged care facilities and welcome community groups to take advantage of our facilities and activities.
Please note that children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
