Walgett Shire Council’s election will be administered by the NSW Electoral Commission and voting will be held on Saturday 4 December 2021
If you are a resident of the WalgettShire Council Local Government Area, you can check if your enrolment details are up to date with the Australian Electoral Commission.
Council does not hold electoral information for local residents.
If you are eligible to vote you must enrol to vote or you may be fined if you do not enrol or vote in elections.

If you are not a resident, you may be entitled to vote if you own, occupy or lease property in Walgett Shire as a corporation, business or individual.
To claim for inclusion on the roll of non-resident owners of rateable land or the roll of occupiers and ratepaying lessees you will need to complete one of the below forms and submit to Walgett Shire Council.
The claim must be completed and lodged with Walgett Shire Council on or before 6.00pm Monday, 26th July 2021. via post, hand delivered to the Administration Building or emailed to email@example.com If you have further questions, contact Council.
If a claim for non-residential enrolment was made for a previous council election, and you wish to claim enrolment for this election you must re-apply.
Voting is compulsory for Walgett Shire residents.
If you do not vote and you don’t have a valid reason, you will be fined $55 by the NSW Electoral Commission. Apparent failure to vote notices are distributed within three months of an election event.
Council does not issue the fines and more information about penalties for not voting is available at NSW Electoral Commission.
