Rural Aid 10 Towns Priority Areas for Walgett

As many of you will know the North West Plains Sustainability Group and the Walgett CWA applied to be apart of Rural Aids Ten Towns Project and Walgett was SUCCESSFUL.
So there has been much planning and consultation happening behind the scenes and there are now 15 Priority Areas for Rural Aids upcoming visit on 25th Apr 2021 to 1st May 2021. The Rural Aid Team are bringing up to 70 volunteers to help get things done!!!
We need your feedback to help up pick the Top 5 most urgent and or important that will give us the most impact from the Rural Aid visit.

**There are many other action areas that will be championed along the way but this initial project is about man power and having help on the ground***
Priority 1: Planting of tree to develop more shade
Priority 2: Establishing “Selfie Spots” including main street
Priority 3: Locating a tourism flyer stand in every business
Priority 4: Sponsoring new public street art including Sculpture and Mural Trail – Starting with Liz Powell’s Interactive Wolseley Shearing Stand
Priority 5: Replacing or repainting planter boxes with artistic designs capturing local heritage and culture
Priority 6:Assist the Walgett Historical Society to create a new farm machinery display area at the rear of the Museum
Priority 7: Develop and implement a “Ask Me, I am a Local’ Scheme
Priority 8: Design & implement an new eye-catching town entrance statements
Priority 9: Develop and implement an advertising signage strategy to promote local tourist attractions and businesses, that begins 80kms out of town
Priority 10: Enhance the Pool and Bore Bath complex area as a key community “hub gathering space”
Priority 11: Extending Lawn areas with turf + cement pathway for market stalls
Priority 12: Creating more shade – shaded seating
Priority 13: Enhance facilities at the Showgrounds to attract more regional events, including the grandstand, toilets, fencing, seating, shade, signage, carpark and entrances
Priority 14 Enhance the community garden with healthy living programs and bush tucker plantings
Priority 15: Instigate improvements to the Boat Ramp Area
