Shire Wide Anti-Graffiti Initiative

SHIRE WIDE ANTI-GRAFFITI INITIATIVE

Council’s community development team are in the process of presenting the first ever anti-graffiti policy and procedure to Walgett Shire Council for adoption.

The policy will support methods and processes which have proven effective and measurable in many communities throughout NSW in reducing and addressing issues with graffiti and vandalism.

Aligning with the development of the graffiti policy, is the recent work and embellishment of existing murals and paintings carried out by Mr Frank Wright and the council team on specific areas throughout Walgett and other communities within the Shire.

The sporting mural on the corner of Fox & Neilly streets was first painted over 21 years ago by David O’Neill.

The original artwork was focused on former local NRL player Ricky Walford and highlights other sports and has just been given a makeover by Frank and the team.

Other murals in the communities will be “touched up” and revitalised as part of this initiative.
