Collarenebri, Burren Junction & Rowena – We Need Your Local Know-How!
Walgett Shire Council is on the lookout for two passionate community members from the Collarenebri and surrounding areas to join our Economic Development and Visitor Economy Advisory Committee.
If you care about the future of our region, know the potential in our towns, and want to see Collarenebri, Burren and Rowena continue to grow and shine — this is your chance to help shape that future.
What does the Committee actually do?
In simple terms:
It brings local voices to the table. The Committee gives strategic, non-binding advice to Council and the General Manager on how to strengthen our local economy and boost the visitor experience across the Shire.
It’s about:
• Backing local business growth and new ideas
• Supporting projects that bring visitors to the region
• Identifying opportunities for jobs, investment and community prosperity
• Helping promote our region’s character, story and strengths
• Making sure decisions are grounded in local knowledge and real-world insights
Your lived experience of the area is what matters most. You know the opportunities, challenges and bright ideas that make our communities stand out.
What’s the commitment?
Not much at all — four meetings per year.
Meetings rotate across the Shire:
✔️ One in Walgett
✔️ One in Lightning Ridge
✔️ One in Collarenebri
✔️ One at a location chosen by the Committee
Local representatives are especially encouraged to contribute when meetings are held in their patch.
If you’re enthusiastic about helping your Shire grow, thrive and attract new opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.
✨ Your insight can help shape the region’s economic future — because no one knows your community better than you.
