EOI: Economic Development and Visitor Economy Advisory Committee

Walgett Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join the Economic Development and Visitor Economy Advisory Committee.
This newly established Committee, created on 17 December 2024, plays a key role in providing strategic, non-binding advice to the Council and General Manager on driving local business growth, promoting tourism, and enhancing economic opportunities across the region.
The Committee will comprise:
- 4 Councillors
- 3 Community Representatives
- General Manager (or their delegate)
- Director People, Place and Liveability (or their delegate – non-voting)
Key Functions:
The Committee will:
- Advise on initiatives to drive local economic development and business sustainability.
- Recommend strategies to grow the region’s visitor economy and attract tourism.
- Evaluate Council programs and recommend improvements.
- Identify opportunities to boost investment, job creation, and industry collaboration.
- Support marketing and branding to position the region as a premier destination.

How to Apply:
Interested individuals are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to the General Manager by 18 February 2025. Applications should include your name, contact details, and a brief statement outlining why you wish to join the Committee.
Please note: Applicant names and reasons for applying may be included in the public agenda for the Council meeting on 25 February 2025, where appointments will be determined. All applicants will be notified of the outcome following this meeting.
