Youth Holiday Programs Set to Engage, Enhance & Entertain

During the upcoming holiday season, youth centres across the Walgett Shire will be offering a range of activities and skill enhancing opportunities for young people to engage in. Whether they love to sing their heart out to karaoke, cook up a storm with healthy eating in mind or chill out in the cool with a range of indoor games, there is something to keep every young mind entertained.
With the support of the NSW Government’s Regional NSW Youth grant, Walgett Shire Council is set to launch its "Summer Smash Series." This innovative program boasts a variety of skill-focused activities, arts, sports and creative pursuits. Artist Frank Wright will also join us for the second and final stage of "Get Ya Art On."
Award winning “Beat the Heat” programs are set to return thanks to the support from the Reconnecting NSW funding stream. These programs will include refreshing pool-based events designed to provide relief during the hottest month of the year. Once again, local services such as Walgett Aboriginal Medical Services, Mission Australia and others are collaborating to support active engagement and create opportunities for our residents.
The January Holiday program kicks off on Monday 15th and operates from 9am- 2pm each weekday up until January 25th2024.
Holiday activities are offered free to all school aged young people across our Shire. Programs are now available at our youth centres, on our website at www.walgett.nsw.gov.au or by contacting our Youth Development Officer Sandra Bladen at youthdevleopment@walgett.nsw.gov.au
