The landfills at Collarenebri, Burren Junction, Grawin and Carinda are operated by Council. For more information, please contact the Planning Department on (02) 6828 6100.

The Walgett and Lightning Ridge landfills are currently operated under contract. Basic information is available from Council, but for specific enquiries, please contact David Lane on 0428 628 022.

Please note: Walgett Return and Earn is operated separately from Council and opening days and times may vary. For up-to-date information or to access skip bin services, please contact Darryl Ferguson on 0458 216 045. Walgett Waste Facility

Located at Rubbish Tip Road, Walgett NSW 2832

Opening Hours:

  • Days: 7 Days a Week
  • Morning: 8:30am – 12:00pm
  • Lunch Break: 12:00pm – 1:00pm (Closed)
  • Afternoon: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

General waste disposal at our tips is free for most household items — including rubbish, metal, steel, green waste, and more. Fees may apply for larger items such as mattresses, building materials, or commercial loads. If you're unsure, please contact Council before visiting.
