Notice of Ordinary Council Meeting

The next Ordinary Meeting of Council will be held on Monday, 18 August 2025, at the Walgett Shire Council Chambers, commencing at 10.00am.

A Citizenship Ceremony will be held prior to the meeting, beginning at 9.45am.

Members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting agenda will be available at least three days prior at: www.walgett.nsw.gov.au


Tenders Now Open

Supply and Delivery of Quarry Materials

Walgett Shire Council is seeking experienced and qualified contractors for the supply and delivery of quarry materials on an as-required basis across the Local Government Area.

Contract Term: 36 months from commencement, with a 12-month extension option.

Closing Date: 10:00am, Friday 22 August 2025

Lightning Ridge Intersection Drainage Upgrade

Tenders are invited for intersection drainage upgrades at various Lightning Ridge locations.

Scope includes:

  • Removal of existing kerb and damaged pavement
  • Excavation to subgrade
  • Construction of new dished crossings and kerb
  • Regrading of table drains
  • Exporting unsuitable material and replacing with quality fill
  • Construction of road pavement for bitumen sealing

Closing Date: Friday 29 August 2025

Road Closures and Road Safety

  • Conditions change quickly; travel cautiously.
  • Unsealed roads are easily damaged when wet.
  • Repairs depend on road and gravel conditions.

Bin Collection Services

Schedule:

  • Tuesday: Walgett, Namoi, Gingie
  • Wednesday: Lightning Ridge, Cumborah
  • Thursday: Collarenebri, Burren Junction
  • Friday: Carinda, Walgett Trade Waste

Bin Guidelines:

  • Place bins 1 metre apart
  • Out by 6am or night before
  • Keep clear of trees, poles, and cars
  • Do not overfill or overload
  • Only one bin per household unless authorised

Water Meter Access

Please keep your water meter accessible. Barriers such as locked gates, dogs, overgrowth or debris can cause estimated readings.

Roaming Dogs

Roaming dogs present safety concerns. Owners must secure pets under the Companion Animals Act 1998. Non-compliance can lead to fines.

All dogs should be microchipped and registered.
