Walgett Water Supply Update

MEDIA RELEASE WALGETT WATER SUPPLY UPDATE

Council wishes to advise Walgett residents that the town's filtered water supply was successfully 

changed over to River Water Wednesday 3rd May 2023 at 8am.  The river water is responding 

effectively to treatment, and water quality is currently in compliance with critical control point 

parameters (as per the Council Drinking Water Management Plan)

NSW Department of Planning and Environmental - Water along with the Council will continue to 

closely monitor the water quality and the performance of the Water Treatment Plant.

There will be a delay in complete changeover to river water in the reticulation network because 

there is a few days' worth of water in the network that needs to be flushed out first, there will 

likely be a delay in the change in taste of the water for possibly up to early next week.
