On behalf of Walgett Shire Council and our Councillors, I want to express my deep shock and disgust at the appalling attack that occurred at a Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service (WAMS) residence Thursday night, June 19th that caused the closure of their GP Clinic on Friday the 20th June.

2025 Walgett Shire Council Countback Election

This countback election is required to fill one casual vacancy on the Walgett Shire Council. The casual vacancy has occurred due to the resignation of one Councillor Scott Bailey. After the 14 September 2024 ordinary election, Council voted at their first meeting to use Countback to fill any vacancies.
